چکیده

3 This paper considers the consequences of endowing an intelligent agent with the ability to modify its own code. The intelligent agent is patterned closely after AIXI with these specific assumptions: 1) The agent is allowed to arbitrarily modify its own inputs if it so chooses; 2) The agent’s code is a part of the environment and may be read and written by the environment. The first of these we call the “delusion box”; the second we call “mortality”. Within this framework, we discuss and compare four very different kinds of agents, specifically: reinforcement-learning, goal-seeking, predictive, and knowledge-seeking agents. Our main results are that: 1) The reinforcement-learning agent under reasonable circumstances behaves exactly like an agent whose sole task is to survive (to preserve the integrity of its code); and 2) Only the knowledge-seeking agent behaves completely as expected.

A Context-aware Architecture for Mental Model Sharing through Semantic Movement in Intelligent Agents

Recent studies in multi-agent systems are paying increasingly more attention to the paradigm of designing intelligent agents with human inspired concepts. One of the main cognitive concepts driving the core of many recent approaches in multi agent systems is shared mental models. In this paper, we propose an architecture for sharing mental models based on a new concept called semantic movement....

Hierarchical Functional Concepts for Knowledge Transfer among Reinforcement Learning Agents

This article introduces the notions of functional space and concept as a way of knowledge representation and abstraction for Reinforcement Learning agents. These definitions are used as a tool of knowledge transfer among agents. The agents are assumed to be heterogeneous; they have different state spaces but share a same dynamic, reward and action space. In other words, the agents are assumed t...

User-based Vehicle Route Guidance in Urban Networks Based on Intelligent Multi Agents Systems and the ANT-Q Algorithm

Guiding vehicles to their destination under dynamic traffic conditions is an important topic in the field of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS). Nowadays, many complex systems can be controlled by using multi agent systems. Adaptation with the current condition is an important feature of the agents. In this research, formulation of dynamic guidance for vehicles has been investigated based...

The Study of Delusion in Multiagent Systems

It is generally accepted that an agent needs to build models of other agents in its environment. The content of these models ranges from simple entries, such as agent capabilities, to more complex entries, such as agent intentions, goals, desires, etc. There is the problem that the information stored in these models may not be accurate in terms of matching the actual property of the agent being...
